Feb 11 – Officer James Seneca, Aurora Police Department, Cops Fighting Cancer (kids)

Officer Seneca started Cops Fighting Cancer in April 2003 to help families with cancer and has helped over 150 Colorado families. The group has raised over $700,000 to help the families with medical costs, rent, mortgage payments, and other basic necessities. They have also visited over 4,000 children at Christmas and Easter with gifts and get well cards. Officer Seneca himself is a 23-year survivor of leukemia. “I consider myself extremely blessed to be able to help these remarkable families with cancer.” So far, the organization is staffed by volunteers, but Officer Seneca plans to his full-time efforts to Cops Fighting Cancer in the near future with a small paid staff. More information can be found at http://copsfightingcancer.org/. The Kiwanis Club of Aurora has donated $500.00 to Cops Fighting Cancer .
