[CBS 4 - Denver] Aurora Police Collect Toys For Children’s Hospital

A group of police officers are asking for help in their effort to collect toys for cancer patients at Children’s Hospital.

Cops Fighting Cancer is has been working to help the young patients and their families around the holidays for a decade. Aurora Officer Jim Seneca is behind the effort and says they are excited to be helping out once again.

“When parents and families are dealing with their situations and cancer a lot of times one of the parents has to quit their jobs or take a leave of absence. So we try to step in and help them with their financial situation. It could be rent, their mortgage, some medical costs, some groceries, just some basic necessities to give them some help,” he said on the CBS4 Morning News on Sunday.

More than 200 officers, many from police agencies outside Aurora, will gather on Dec. 12 for a motorcade at the hospital to distribute the toys that are collected.

Seneca is a cancer survivor and says he is still inspired by all the help he got 25 years ago when he was diagnosed with leukemia.
